Forensic Mapping and Photogrammetry
BRT personnel are trained and certified in forensic mapping and scene investigation services. These include 3D laser scanning, the use of survey equipment and digital recreation of accident scenes, vehicles, buildings, or virtually any other object or environment. We use state-of-the-art 3D laser scanning and total station optical measurement systems, with the associated software technologies. These technologies can preserve and document millions of 3D data points for future analysis and exhibits.
Photogrammetry involves the use of photographs toward establishing a 3-dimensional representation of an object or environment. Such techniques can often be essential when only photographs of a damaged vehicle are available, or when only photographs of an accident scene remain. BRT uses specialized software in order to convert 2-dimensional photographs to 3-dimensional representations, and BRT personnel have extensive experience with this technique and have been published on the subject.
BRT utilizes high-quality aerial imagery that has been collected with flown USGS-certified camera systems and LIDAR mapping. Every pixel in the image is georeferenced, allowing for more accurate measurements including distances, roadway elevations, and slopes.
